This not only fills all of the hot water pipes with hot water, but also conserves water which can be very important for residences on well systems.

The less water you waste waiting for hot water the less time your well pump will have to turn on allowing the pump to last that much longer. For homes on municipal water a recirculation line will save you money on your water bill for the same reason, less wasted water waiting for hot water.
